SAP and It's Pot of Gold (Configurable Controls)Within SAP sits two enormous, but underutilized, process-level control capabilities: Preprocessing Controls and Configurable Controls. Let’s say that again: SAP holds the mother of all process-level controls … called configurables. These controls are EMBEDDED within the architecture of SAP … not some sort of add-on. Natural SAP, out of the box, holds the potential for you to invoke a myriad of PROCESS-LEVEL controls (think embedded monitors, here, allowing for real-time/run-time notification of materials errors). Thus you may greatly strengthen the Control Environment and Manage/Mitigate Business Risk … while building ˝ of the necessary 1-2 punch of Continuous Control Monitoring. Let’s review SAP in its natural state (native SAP … right out of the box), and then ask what are the standard configurables and how would we build very customized configurables. At the client’s option, we can cover controls over SAP (change control) and access controls (user rights, roles, profiles, privileges). Otherwise, this course focuses on the controls in SAP (preprocessing and configurables). Not only will you be provided with both audit programs to audit over/in SAP … you will be given detailed methodology to learn “how” to induce the IT department to “turn on” some of these to-die-for process-level controls. Several SAP screen shots will be provided. Several SAP embedded-control “Wins” will be discussed. |
